Many of our courses offer you the opportunity to undertake a year in industry and, best of all, it is free!

You can apply your learning in the workplace after your second year of studies, with the support of our Careers and Employability Service. Enhance your knowledge, develop new skills, strengthen your CV and build your industry network while getting a real understanding of what it’s like to work in your chosen field.

Please note the fee-free year is only available to UK students and excludes Nursing, Social Work and some Education courses.

Through our partnerships and links, we give you every opportunity to build your knowledge and boost your employability. We work with over 800 businesses a year across south England. In education, we have well-established partnerships with more than 500 schools and educational organisations across the eastern region. In sport, our official education partners are Luton Town FC and Bedford Blues RFC. Our law students solve real-life problems at our community 'clinics' in family law, criminal law and law related to asylum seekers. And that's just a few examples!

These connections give you access to live projects; work experience and placements; regular industry talks and masterclasses from professionals; field trips and visits - all of which give you valuable industry/sector insights, build your CV and list of contacts, and prepare you to succeed in the career you've set your sights on.

The University of Bedfordshire is committed to contributing to our local communities through involving students, staff and external audiences in volunteering initiatives. We offer a range of ways for students to volunteer, from one-off events to regular and long-term commitments. We have opportunities with community organisations as well as on site with the University and Students’ Union.

Volunteering is a great way to give something back to the community, meet new people and learn new skills, whilst increasing your employability and helping you to stand out from the crowd.

Our Study Hub is designed to help you succeed in higher education and beyond by providing free professional support to develop your academic skills. You can find a range of online guides covering library resources, referencing, academic writing and study skills or you can book a drop-in session with a specialist. Having excellent academic skills on finding, reading and using information for your assignments can really help boost your confidence and your employability.
